Alh. Lawan Ali Gujungu
The Governing council of Capital City University, Kano has approved the appointment of Alhaji Lawan Ali Gujungu as the Bursar for the Institution. The appointment takes effect from November 2021. Below is a brief on the Bursar;
Alhaji Lawan Ali Gujungu was born on 22nd October, 1962 at Gujungu Town, Taura Local Government, Jigawa State. He attended Gujungu Central Primary School from 1971 to 1977 and Government Teachers’ College, Garki, Kano between 1977 and 1982. He obtained B.Sc. (Hons.) Accounting and Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the Bayero University Kano in 1987 and 1999 respectively. He earned Diploma in Information Technology at E-Corporate Training, Kano. His Professional qualifications include: The Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN) – Fellow (FCNA); The Institute of Management Consultants (IMC) – Member; Chartered Institute of Financial and Investment Analysts, Nigeria. – Senior Fellow; and Certified Professional Financial Consultants of the United Kingdom – Fellow. Thereafter, he acquired certificates in Forensic Accounting / Auditing in year 2016 / 2017 from the University of Lagos.
Also, Alhaji Lawan has participated in about 31 Local and Foreign Courses. He has gained cognate working experience in Accounting Firm, Banking Industry and Public Sector Accounting. He has served as Audit Assistant II , Treasury Operations Officer, and Assistant Director / Federal Pay Officer. In addition, he has served as Accountant and rose to the rank of Director (Finance Accounts)/Internal Audit in various Federal Ministries, Departments and Agencies such as NERDC, Nigerian Defence Academy, Kaduna, Office of the Accountant – General of the Federation, Federal Government Staff Housing Loans Board; News Agency of Nigeria and Ministry of Foreign Affairs among others. He retired voluntarily from Public Service in October, 2021 meritoriously.
Presently, serving as the Pioneer Bursar of the Capital City University, Kano. (CCUK) with effect from November 2021.
His specific area of specialization include Financial Accounting, Public/Sector Accounting, Effective Fund Management and Control, efficiency and smooth operations of the financial management functions, the observance of due diligence, economy and cost effectiveness in financial transactions and rendition of financial reports efficiently as well as Enforcement of Internal Control Mechanisms with flexibility.
Importantly, his ambitions are reading, computations and sports.
He is happily married with Children.
